New bridges for women shooters formed at the Well Armed Woman National Leader Conference in St. Louis, Mo.
St. Louis, MO – The country’s largest women’s shooting organization held its National Shooting Chapter Leader Conference Oct. 3-5, 2014 in St. Louis MO. Chapter leaders from coast to coast traveled to St. Louis for three days of seminars, training and for the chance to meet and network with their sister chapter leaders. Two hundred The Well Armed Woman Shooting Chapters meet monthly at local shooting ranges in 44 states to provide a woman friendly environment for to learn to safely and responsibly shoot firearms for their self protection.
Along with leadership, range safety, chapter building seminars, and some shooting events at local ranges, these leaders participated in something never seen before in the firearms industry; direct and candid dialogue with firearm and shooting accessory manufacturers to address the needs of women shooters. “Never before has there been the bridge to connect this community of new shooters directly with the male driven industry that is eager to meet their needs, ” said Carrie Lightfoot, Owner/Founder of The Well Armed Woman.
“I was thrilled to attend this women’s leadership event on behalf of Ruger,” said Sarah DePanfilis, Director of Human Resources for Ruger and guest speaker at the event. “This is an important forum where women can share their ideas and opinions to help shape the future of the firearms industry.”
The three-day event was sponsored by some of the largest names in the firearm industry. The following companies contributed to make the event possible: Ruger, Mossberg, Glock, Walther Arms, NRA-ILA Frontlines, Magpul, Command Arms, CCW Safe, RWC Group and Gun Toten Mama’s.

Fifteen donated firearms and over one hundred donated products were given away to The Well Armed Woman Chapter Leaders throughout the weekend. “Our chapter leaders work so hard and so passionately to educate, equip and empower women across the country and are such wonderful ambassadors of responsible and safe gun ownership, it was important for us to acknowledge their efforts and achievements.” said Lightfoot.
Special guest Gabby Franco, former Olympic shooter and two-time contestant on the History Channel’s reality show “Top Shot presented a session focused on training new shooters. Franco was also the keynote speaker at a special evening banquet held on Saturday October 4th to honor chapter leaders.
