[su_dropcap style=”light”]A[/su_dropcap] gunman was in custody after he killed seven to 10 people and injured about 20 others Thursday at a community college in southwest Oregon, authorities said.
It wasn’t immediately known whether the gunman was dead or alive as authorities said simply that he was in custody after the shootings at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, which was called in at 10:38 a.m. (1:38 p.m. ET), officials said.
Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg said it was treating nine patients, with three more expected. Sacred Heart General Hospital in Eugene, a major trauma center, told NBC News it was expecting three patients by helicopter.
