Armed Attacker with Knife Flees after woman reveals her concealed carry Gun

After a man wielding a knife attacked and kidnapped a woman, she was able to grab her concealed carry gun and scare him off, probably saving her own life.
Guns save lives. An Illinois woman probably saved her life from a knife wielding attacker when she was able to reach her concealed handgun.

The woman had parked her car near a shopping mall in Moline when a man brandishing a knife jumped into her vehicle. She reportedly fought with the attacker as he entered her car, whereupon he slashed her arm and told her to drive to a rural area in Rock Island County.

She began driving but once she stopped her car she was able to reach her concealed handgun. Upon seeing the weapon the attacker hastily exited the vehicle and ran off. The woman was able to drive herself to the hospital for treatment to her knife wound.

Police later arrested a 61 year-old man and charged him with aggravated kidnapping, aggravated battery with a weapon, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and aggravated assault. He is currently in the Rock Island County Jail on $550,000 bond.

The woman has a conceal carry permit, and because she chose to take responsibility for her own safety and protection she is alive today.

Guns save lives. It’s really that simple. Guns are effectively used in self-defense nearly 2.5 million times a year. That’s 6,850 times day in this country. That’s 80 times more often than guns are used to take a life.

The overwhelming majority of defensive uses of a gun – more than 92 percent of the time – do not result in the wounding or death of the assailant. Merely brandishing the weapon, as this woman did, is enough to scare off an attacker.

Every year approximately 200,000 women use guns to defend themselves from sexual abuse.

These are the facts. Guns save lives.
