Vertex Tactical Aviation – Helicopter Hog Hunting
Vertex Tactical Aviation hailing from Houston, TX provides the ever popular Heli Hunting, Heli Hog Hunting and Tactical Night Hog Hunting. Many people hearing this or have seen the video below have a limited perspective as to the amount of damage caused by feral hogs in the United States specifically in Texas.
There are currently 3.2 million feral hogs in the state of Texas alone, that’s 50% of the entire US population. Hogs cause in excess of $400 million dollars per year in damages in Texas alone.
Damages are taken place everywhere not just in the rural areas. Reports are showing urban damages increasing weekly due to their excessively fast reproduction rate.
Vertex Tactical Aviation provides the best culling methods when compared to trapping, snaring and hunting. Helicopter hunting is the most effective means for mass culling.
This program is not a sporting event, its a depredation program. A program that is helping out the farmers and landowners. This program was created with the intention to cull as many hogs as possible in the shortest amount of time.
A statement from Texas A&M’s Billy Higginbotham, “We would have to cull 70% of the population annually just to keep the numbers at 3.2 million”. That means we would have to destroy 2.5 million hogs annually, just in Texas, to keep the numbers from increasing. That’s a lot of work, in a very small amount of time.
Is This Legal?
As of September 1st, 2011, Landowners and Landowner-Agents are now authorized per Texas Law to contract to perfom as a Gunner from a Helicopter during Aerial Hog Depredation Flights. Yes, currently only in Texas is this law applied.
Again this program is Texas’s way of helping the Ranchers, Farmers and other Landowners to subsidize the high costs of having an on-going depredation program. If you’re considering a helicopter hog hunting trip, go over to Vertex Tactial Aviation for more information.
