Bighorn Arms, founded by AJ Goddard, has been making some of the most consistent actions in the industry. As some of you may know there has been some recent changes within Bighorn Arms that will benefit our customers tremendously by increasing the number of actions we are able to produce and by making them as consistent as ever.

Bighorn Arms is able to do this by partnering with ZAI (Zermatt Arms Inc) located in Bennet, NE. ZAI has incredible machining capability with state of the art equipment and several years of experience within the firearm and aerospace industries. As we move forward in the endeavor we look forward to serving our customers with the best possible customer service, along with the most repeatable products, and innovation we can provide.

The TL3 is Bighorn Arms’ flagship product. This action is machined from pre-hardened 416 stainless steel. Features include an integrated recoil lug, Savage small shank thread tenon, floating and interchangeable bolt head, controlled round feed, spiral fluted bolt, mechanical ejector and bayonet style firing pin assembly.

The TL3 has options for AICS, AW, single shot and single shot extended magazine wells. SHORT ACTION AICS magazine wells will accept all AICS pattern magazines and COAL’s of 2.980″. LONG ACTION AICS magazine wells will accept all AICS pattern magazines and COAL’s of 3.850″ (CIP Length). AW magazine wells will accept AW magazines as well as AICS pattern magazines. Running AICS pattern magazines in an AW cut receiver does present a greater potential for feeding issues. Upward pressure on AICS magazines can create a bind on the bolt that does not allow the bolt to be pushed forward. Single shot receivers are standard length and single shot extended receivers have a stroke that is .100″ longer than standard length.

Available tang options are trim, medium and thick. Trim is the closest to standard Remington 700 actions while medium is the same footprint just slightly thicker at the rear. Thick tangs typically require some custom inletting in stocks but can be more aesthetically pleasing in some chassis. If you have any concerns with which tang will work, follow the general rule that trim is the most versatile option.

TL3’s are currently the only actions with an option for a 0 or 30 MOA rail. All other actions are standard with 20 MOA rails.

The Origin is a Zermatt Arms Inc designed action that incorporates features from the Bighorn TL3 and SR3 line of actions. This action is machined from pre-hardened chromoly steel. Features include a pinned recoil lug, Savage small shank thread tenon, floating and interchangeable bolt head, controlled round feed, spiral fluted bolt, mechanical ejector and bayonet style firing pin assembly.

The Origin comes standard with standard Remington style feed lips for ADL/BDL (hinged floor plate) internals and all AICS pattern magazines to max COAL’s of 2.980″ in SHORT ACTIONS. LONG ACTION AICS magazine wells will accept all AICS pattern magazines and COAL’s of 3.850″ (CIP Length). Origin actions are cut with the Bighorn trim tang which is most similar to Remington 700 actions. The Origin bolt handle is swept to mimic the Remington 700 as well.

Origin actions come with 20 MOA rails only.

The SR3 is a Bighorn Arms variant of the TL3 with different magazine well options. This action is machined from pre-hardened 416 stainless steel. Features include an integrated recoil lug, Savage small shank thread tenon, floating and interchangeable bolt head, controlled round feed, spiral fluted bolt, mechanical ejector and bayonet style firing pin assembly.

The SR3 has options for standard Remington length, Wyatt’s Extended, single shot and single shot extended magazine wells. SHORT ACTIONS with standard Remington magazine wells will accept ADL/BDL (hinged floor plate) internals and all AICS pattern magazines to max COAL’s of 2.775″. LONG ACTIONS with standard Remington magazine wells will accept all AICS pattern magazines and COAL’s of 3.715″. Wyatt’s Extended magazine wells will accept Wyatt Outdoors CFE-5 / MBE-4 and CFE-12 / MBE-3 magazines for short and long actions respectively.

SR3’s come with 20 MOA rails only.
