congressional sportsmens foundationSeptember 26, 2014 (Washington, DC) – Yesterday, the Congressional Sportsmen’s Foundation (CSF) brought its mission to Minute Maid Park in Houston, to celebrate sportsmen and women in Texas and throughout the country.

“Texas Bass, Bucks & Boots” brought together federal and state legislators and several CSF partners to discuss priorities in the sportsmen’s community and celebrate the deep-rooted sporting heritage of the Lone Star State.

CSF President Jeff Crane opened the evening and thanked the guests and supporters who made this event possible. “CSF is pleased to be back in Houston for our second year. As this year marks CSF’s 25th Anniversary as well as the 10th Anniversary of the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses (NASC) and 5th Anniversary of the Governors Sportsmen’s Caucus (GSC), this is a great opportunity to celebrate the sportsmen and women around the country,” said Crane.

Crane introduced CSF Board of Directors member, event Host Committee Chair Bruce Culpepper. “This is a great opportunity to bring my interests, as a CSF Board member and avid Texan sportsman, together to celebrate our heritage with sportsmen and women from across the country,” said Culpepper.

Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus member Congressman Kevin Brady, representing Texas’s 8th congressional district, including Houston, spoke as well. “I’m proud to be a part of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus because [CSF] brings Congress real solutions on how we can conserve and open up access to lands and make sure our rights are protected. CSF does it in a way that Republicans and Democrats can join together,” said Rep. Brady.

Illinois Representative Brandon Phelps, NASC Executive Council Secretary, spoke on NASC’s 10th Anniversary. “As NASC celebrates its 10th Anniversary this year, now with 44 state legislative sportsmen’s caucuses and over 2,000 legislators represented, sportsmen and women have a stronger voice than ever in state legislatures,” said Rep. Phelps.

The Title Sponsors for this event included Dallas Safari Club, Houston Safari Club and Silver Eagle Distributors. Host Sponsors included Coastal Conservation Association and Shell Oil Company. Co-Host Sponsors included ATK, Bass Pro Shops, Cabela’s Outdoor Fund, National Shooting Sports Foundation, Remington, Richard Childress Racing, Safari Club International, Safety Management Systems and Shimano American Corporation.
Since 1989 CSF has maintained a singleness of purpose that has guided the organization to become the most respected and trusted sportsmen’s organization in the political arena. CSF’s mission is to work with Congress, governors, and state legislatures to protect and advance hunting, angling, recreational shooting and trapping. The unique and collective force of the Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus (CSC), the Governors Sportsmen’s Caucus (GSC) and the National Assembly of Sportsmen’s Caucuses (NASC), working closely with CSF, and with the support of major hunting, angling, recreational shooting and trapping organizations, serves as an unprecedented network of pro-sportsmen elected officials that advance the interests of America’s hunters and anglers.
